Page 30: Fire in the Night

This was first written for the "Your Story #97" contest by Reader's Digest. The photo prompt (below) showed a small boy and girl walking in a forest with a fox perched on a tree limb, watching over them. I left out the bit about the fox completely. But I liked the idea of two children alone in the woods, so I came up with this story. It has a bit of a macabre, open ending but most of my stuff seems to. READ HERE
